The Transitions are the newest discovery of artist/producer/music impresario Michael Bivins. In an R&B climate ripe for change, their distinctive voices and superb performance skills position the Transitions as true leaders of the new school.
A trio comprised of Charles Moore (a native of Detroit), Rashawn Worthen (hailing from Queens, NY), and Balewa Muhammad (from Harlem, NY), the Transitions are strongly influenced by many of the soul greats from the 70's. Counting Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Womack, Sam Cooke, Al Green, and Ronald Isley among their serious sources of musical inspiration, the three members of the Transitions caught the attention of Michael Bivins at different times as solo artists. Michael was extremely impressed with the vocal performances of each member and recognized in them the same magic that was a critical element of the impact the soul singers of the 70's had on America. Their undeniable talent led Michael to bring them together as a group, and the Transitions were born. "Mike thought each one of us had individual talents that were very strong, but he knew that if he put us all together…we would be even more powerful", Charles states. "Picture Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke and Al Green, all those cats in their prime, at a young age, all in one group. That's the Transitions."
In the tradition of true soul music, the Transitions are backed up by a band and utilize live instrumentation in their music. Their initial release, a cover of the O'Jays seminal classic "Let Me Make Love To You", has all the power and magic of the original, yet still conveys an undeniable appeal that is uniquely the Transitions'. With a debut LP slated for the pivotal year 2000, the Transitions are poised to set the standard for musical expectations in the coming century. "Their singing reminds me of a young, hip Temptations", Michael states. "Their music IS what the 70's soul would be in the new millennium".
